Anette Curth (2010)  The problem of the recognition of professional and academic degrees of Non-EU citizens within the EU (in writing).   Free University of Berlin
Abstract: An empiric problem of migration and the EU labour market is the recognition of professional degrees. For EU-citizens, procedures have been created to reach transparency and comparability. For Non-EU citizens, there is nothing comparable. In the literature, this circumstance is often described as a problem (“Brain Waste”). Consequently, it is stated that – due to the acceleration of the demographic ageing of the population and a predicted future shortage of skilled workers - the EU labour market would benefit from a standard procedure for the recognition of professional and academic degrees also for Non-EU members. This Master Thesis discusses this subject from a perspective of the theory international relations.
