Senior Research Scientist, (Forskarassistent): (Jan 2010-Onwards): Medical Microbiology, Department of Laboratory Medicine, Skåne University Hospital, Lund University Sweden. Working in respiratory pathogens Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis and Pseuodomonas aeruginosa virulence mechanisms and their interaction with host extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins. The human ECM proteins, laminin, collagen, vitronectin, fibronectin are abundant in almost all body tissues or fluids. All human pathogens have capability to interact with ECM proteins and utilize it for adherence to host tissues, internalization to host tissues by manipulating host signaling or, utilize these ECM proteins for escaping from host immunity. Moreover, degradation of ECM components is also often used by pathogens to enhance host inflammatory response for increasing the damage effects and deep penetration in to host tissues. Thus inhibiting ECM-pathogen interactions can limit invasion and survival of these pathogens. Our aim is to identify these protein-protein interactions for understanding relationship between host and pathogens during pathogenesis
