Dr Alberto Mengoni is a senior researcher at ENEA, Bologna (Italy). From 2009 to 2017 he has been the Science and Technology Attaché at the Embassy of Italy in Tokyo. Previously, he has been Head of the Nuclear Data Services Unit at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna (from 2005 to 2009) and co-ordinator of the project "Nuclear Data for Accelerator Driven Systems" at CERN, in Geneva (from 2001 to 2005). Dr Mengoni performed a significant fraction of his research activity in nuclear physics at Japanese research institutions (the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute, RIKEN and the University of Tokyo), after starting his career as a researcher at ENEA (Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development), in Bologna.
