Ali Khalfallah, Professor with Habilitation (HDR) at the department of mechanical engineering of the higher institute of applied sciences and Technology at the University of Sousse in Tunisia (DME-UST). Currently, he is a Senior Researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra (FCTUC). From 2017 up to 2019, he was the Head of the department of mechanical engineering (DME-UST). He received in 2004 his PhD from the University of El-Manar in Tunisia and a specific PhD recognition in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Coimbra in Portugal. In 2015, he received a diploma of the “Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches - HDR” (docent thesis) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sousse in Tunisia. He is author or co-author of many publications (a book, chapters of books, papers in international journals, conferences and patent) in subjects related with his research activities. He has supervised PhD and master students, on subjects related to his research interests.
He has also taught many courses related to solid mechanics, mechanics and strength of materials, selection of materials, numerical methods and applied mathematics for solid mechanics, technology of metal forming processes, Finite element method for numerical simulation of metal forming for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Dr. Ali Khalfallah is the potential reviewer of several prestigious journals published by Elsevier, Emerald, IOP Publishing, SAGE, ASTM International editorial groups, national and international conferences (COTUME, CMSM, ICAMEM, Global Conference on Materials Science and Engineering, International Conference on Material Strength and Applied Mechanics) and an editorial board member of SCIREA Journal of Mechanical Engineering.

Research Interest

Mechanical Engineering, Computational Mechanics, Mechanical Modelling and Numerical methods for the simulation of metal forming and Tube Hydroforming processes; Mechanical behavior of materials and structures; Inverse and direct parameter identification of materials behavior, numerical simulation of friction stir welding process, mechanics of ductile fracture. Experimental characterization of sheet and tube blanks for constitutive parameter identification.
