A M Marras (2008) WepGIS. Analisi combinate e gestione di un contesto epigrafico rurale CADGIS Magazine 08 Abstract: This paper was the subject of a Thesis entitled âEpigrafia e paesaggio. Il contesto epigrafico rurale della città di Dougga attraverso il materiale epigraficoâ (Epigraphy and landscape: the epigraphc rural context of Dougga through its inscriptions). The study is focused on the latin inscriptions of the north african rural territory, which have been studied with a traditional approach; part of the research was also published on a WebGIS platform. The survey was considered as a single main spatial dimension, in which the inscriptions are treated as objects inserted in the landscape, and also as objects that are part of the landscape itself. We employed CADpack, a program developed by I&S of Trento, Italy: this program allowes a simplified management of the database linked to raster images for each single record, and favours an implementation of GIS analysis. We chose to export the whole project on a WebGIS platform and to use Autodesk Mapguide Author for the themes related to spatial queries. With Mapguide we can create, manage and use GIS applications or other digital data applications of the project in internet, in intranet and we can disseminate maps and projects on the web.
