I am an Ecologist with experience in a broad range of research and monitoring, related to the environment, particularly the conservation of biological diversity and management of natural resources. I have experience sampling birds, mammals, reptiles, ants and vegetation.

In 1992, I conducted an Honours project on the impact of different fire regimes on reptile communities as part of the Kapalga Fire Experiment, Kakadu National Park, and in 1993 worked casually with CSIRO Darwin sampling mammals on the same fire experiment.

In 1994-1997, my MSc on the conservation ecology of the Carpentarian Rock-rat on Wollogorang Station in the Northern Territory Gulf region involved monitoring populations using a range of fauna and flora survey techniques.

During 1997-2006 I mostly worked internationally for BirdLife International as an Ecologist, leading biodiversity assessments in Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, and Timor-Leste. I have visited more than 30 islands in eastern Indonesia (and Timor-Leste), surveying a wide range of fauna, particularly birds. This has included capacity building for local government and NGO workers in biological field survey/protected area inventory techniques.

In Timor-Leste (2002-2010), work included a PhD thesis, and consulting projects on transmission and proposed hydropower works in Timor-Leste, an AusAID funded assessment of the distribution and impacts on native fauna of an invasive toad; an avian fieldguide and Important Bird Areas directory.

From February 2011 to September 2012 I worked in Western Australia with general fauna consulting experience, particularly in the Pilbara region.
