I explore the transformation of socio-ecological relationships through learning and communication, using qualitative methods within an interpretivist paradigm. I am inspired by Wallace Stegner’s words that ‘we can love a place and still be dangerous to it’. I investigate the kinds of relationships that can be cultivated or re-established to ensure sustainability. What do we learn through our socio-ecological interactions? What questions do we ask of ourselves, each other, our contexts? How can we apply what we learn to ensure sustainable and adaptive responses in ever-changing contexts?
