Abstract: Deployment of wireless local area networks (WLANs) is growing consistently and demanding the support of multimedia applications with acceptable quality of service (QoS). This is attracting the interest of researchers globally. Under the optimum QoS, a number of VoIP calls can be supported by a WLAN. Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) and Point Coordination Function (PCF), two MAC protocols specified in the IEEE 802.11 standard have upper bound on VoIP connections. Under DCF mode 12 calls and in 20 calls in PCF mode[1,2,3,4]. In this paper we are proposing an access media mechanism in which audio data is transmitted in PCF mode and best-effort traffic in DCF mode. In the proposed access media mechanism, polling list is dynamically updated so that only those stations are polled which have voice packets ready to transmit. We have proposed a multi-queued MAC architecture for the access point. We considered voice traffic in CBR mode. The simulation results show that the maximum number of VoIP calls supported by 802.11b is 26 and 14 when inter arrival time for voice packets is 20 ms and 14 ms respectively.

Abstract: Micro-cantilever arrays with different dimensions are fabricated by micromachining technique onto silicon <1 0 0> substrate. These sputtered Gold-Coated micro-cantilevers were later surface functionalized. Scanning Electron Microscopy, Atomic Force Microscopy and Optical SWLI using LASER probe are employed to characterize the morphology and image measurement of the micro- cantilever arrays, respectively. Compared with conventional AFM and SPM measurement technique, the proposed method has demonstrated sufficient flexibility and reliability. The experimental results have been analyzed and presented in this paper for MEMS Micro-cantilevers. The scanning White Light Interferometry based two point high resolution optical method is presented for characterizing Micro-cantilevers and other MEMS micro-structures. The repeatable error and the repeatable precision produced in the proposed image measurement method is nanometre confirmable. In this piece of work, we investigate the micro-structure fabrication and image measurement of Length, Width and Step-Height of micro-cantilever arrays fabricated using bulk micromachining technique onto Silicon <100> substrate.

Abstract: An inverted stacked microstrip patch antenna with single-fed at 1.30 GHz for GPS applications is designed at L band using electromagnetic simulator WIPL-D. The radiation patterns of microstrip antennas depend upon parameters like width, length, resonant frequency and dielectric constant. In view of this, by varying the height of the air gap, feed position and dielectric constant of the patch, corresponding radiation pattern, near field and return loss are observed.

Abstract: Further to our own studies carried out previously on the application of the bond graph approach on antennas based on localized elements, we tried in the continuation of our research to devote our studies on the antennas based on distributed elements. For that purpose, we have chooses as first departure, a patch antenna of which we want to find its scattering parameters by our own and new methodology. So we can say that in this paper, we propose a new methodology to study a patch antenna by applying the bond graph approach and the scattering formalism. This study permits us on the one hand to determine and to simulate the scattering parameters (reflexion and transmission coefficients S11, S12, S21 and S22 ) of a patch antenna and on the other hand to modelling the incident and reflected wave propagation for all the points of this antenna by the bond graph approach.

Abstract: In this paper, the mathematical models required to describe the functionality of nanodevices have been reviewed. Based on these mathematical models sensor equivalent circuits have been developed. An experimental setup is developed to analyze the characteristics of IS Field Effect Transistor (ISFET), nanowire and nanosphere devices. The impact of geometrical properties on device performance is estimated based on the experimental setup. Settling time and surface analyte concentration graphs obtained using the experimental setup is used in designing a nanobio sensor for disease detection. Based on the test results, a mathematical model has been developed in Matlab to model nanodevices. Three different iterations of sensor models are carried out based on the results obtained curve fitting techniques are adopted to generalize the developed sensor model using Savitzky-Golay Filter (SG Filter). The sensors modeled can be used for automated drug detection and delivery unit. In this paper it is proposed to develop a methodology for integrating biosensor models from nanohub.org and Matlab. The model for nanowire based sensor may be developed using basic principles and can be characterized using experimental setup. Sensor array model consisting of 64 nanowires is proposed to develop to detect prostate cancer. A control unit that triggers the sensor array may be developed and can be used in measuring the concentration of analyte solution. The location of nanowire sensors on the 8 x 8 matrix can be distributed using Gaussian distribution function. A new sensor array consisting of planar sensor and nanowire sensor may be developed to increase the sensitivity of the system in detecting prostate cancer. Expert system based on feed forward neural network architecture may be designed and modeled for ovarian cancer classification. A two layered network consisting of sigmoid transfer function and purelin function may be designed. Optimum weights for the layers are to be identified using Back propagation Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) algorithm. Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) and Principle Component Analysis (PCA) techniques are to be incorporated into the expert system that classifies the cancer cells based on significant features extracted. A Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller may be modeled to control the diffusion pump and monitoring of drug diffusion. The output of expert system should drive the PID control for drug diffusion. Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) implementation of neural network architecture and PID controller may be designed and developed for optimizing area, speed and power performances. The modules can be integrated to form the automated disease detection and drug delivery unit. The developed sensor model for nanowires match the sensor models available from standard resources with less than 2% deviation. Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) antibody and Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) as biomarkers for detection of prostate cancer based on sensor array is built. The sensor array model achieves 91% efficiency and is superior compared with existing design. The expert system developed correctly classifies ovarian cancer 98% times, with only 2% error. The decision produced by the expert system drives PID controller to activate the diffusion pump, the PID controller has overshoot error of less than 12% with settling time less than 10ms. FPGA implementation of expert system operates at maximum frequency of 293 MHz occupies less than 148 slices when targeted on Virtex 4 FPGA. For real time disease detection and diagnosis, the developed system can be incorporated into a biochip.

Abstract: An instrumentation which is used to monitoring of volcano activities usually has a complex structure and expensive. This, may difficult not only in procurement of the device but also in terms of maintenance. Aim of this research is to develop a simple and inexpensive instrumentation system for online volcano monitoring. For this purpose, the instrumentation system is built upon two main units, i.e. Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) and Master Terminal Unit (MTU). The RTU is sensing unit, which includes seismic sensor module and weather sensor module. Both the sensor modules are equipped with a microcontroller based data acquisition system. The MTU is control and data logger unit. It is built based on PC, and installed applicationâs software for data logger and interface to the internet network, allowing users to access the volcano activity that was monitored by real time, from anywhere. The connection between MTU and RTU performed wirelessly using a digital radio transceiver. The RTUâs work function is fully controlled by the MTU. This system has been tested on laboratory scale and work well.

Abstract: In last several decades silicon-germanium (SiGe) technology has come into the global electronics marketplace. Commercial SiGe HBT facilitates transceiver designs and recommends transistor-level performance metrics which are competitive with the best III-V technologies (InP or GaAs), while sustaining strict fabrication compatibility with high yielding, low-cost, Si CMOS foundry processes on large wafers. This work depicts the complete an ample process to model the noise characteristics of a high frequency 0.1 µm SiGe HBT based on a direct parameter extraction technique. A modeling and characterization of noise parameters of Silicon-Germanium Hetrojunction Bipolar transistor is examined in this issue. Initially, Noise in SiGe Hetrojunction Bipolar Transistors is conferred in detail. Later, a linear noisy two-port network and its equivalent circuit model are presented for extracting and characterizing the noise parameters, for example, noise resistance (Rn), optimum source admittance (GSopt, BSopt) and minimum noise figure (NFmin) along with its modeling significance. In next step, a novel idea that explains the impact of Ge concentration on these noise parameters is also portrayed. The noise characteristics of the SiGe HBTs are advanced to those of IIIâV semiconductor devices. A corroboration of objective validity of the noise modeling scheme and the extraction noise parameter is accomplished in the form of Y-, and Z-parameters. Abstract: We present new designs for full adder featuring hybrid-CMOS design style. The quest to achieve a good-drivability, noise-robustness and low energy operations guided our research to explore hybrid- CMOS style design. Hybrid-CMOS design style utilizes various CMOS logic style circuits to build new full adders with desired performance. We also classify hybrid-CMOS full adders into three broad categories based upon their structure. Using this categorization, many full adder designs can be conceived. The new full adder is based on XOR-XOR Hybrid CMOS model that gives XOR and XOR full swing output simultaneously. This circuitâs outperforms its counterparts showing 4%-31% improvement in power dissipation and delay. The output stage also provides good driving capability and no buffer connection is needed between cascaded stages. During our experiments, we found out that many of the previously reported adders suffered from the problems of low swing and high noise when operated at low supply voltages. The proposed full adders are energy efficient and outperform several standard full adders without trading of driving capabilities and reliabilities. The new full-adder circuits successfully operate at low voltages with excellent signal integrity and driving capability. The new adders displayed better performance as compared to the standards full adder. The problem we face during the experiment leads us to different zones where efficient circuit can be developed using this new full adder.

Abstract: This paper presents a application of PSO to Hybrid active power filter used to compensate for total harmonic distortion in three-phase four-wire systems. The shunt active filter employs a simple method for the calculation of the reference compensation current based on Fast Fourier Transform. The presented Shunt Active Power filter is able to operate in balanced, unbalanced and Variable load conditions. Classic filters may not have satisfactory performance in fast varying conditions. But auto tuned active power filter gives better results for harmonic minimization, reactive power compensation and power factor improvement. The proposed auto tuned shunt active filter maintains the THD well within IEEE-519 standards. The proposed methodology is extensively tested for wide range of different Loads with Improved dynamic behavior of shunt active power filter using PSO to Hybrid active power filter. The results are found to be quite satisfactory to mitigate harmonic Distortions, reactive power compensation and power factor correction thereby increase in Power Quality improvement and reduction in %THD.

Abstract: Standard cell placement is a NP complete open problem. The main objectives of a placement algorithm are to minimize chip area and the total wire length of all the nets. Due to interconnect dominance, Deep Sub Micron VLSI design flow does not converge leading to iterations between synthesis and layout steps. We present a new heuristic placement algorithm called Sankeerna, which tightly couples synthesis and routing and produces compact routable designs with minimum area and delay. We tested Sankeerna on several benchmarks using 0.13 micron, 8 metal layer, standard cell technology library. There is an average improvement of 46.2% in delay, 8.8% in area and 114.4% in wire length when compared to existing placement algorithms. In this paper, we described the design and implementation of Sankeerna algorithm and its performance is illustrated through a worked out example.

Abstract: The image data compression has been an active research area for image processing over the last decade [1] and has been used in a variety of applications. This paper investigates the implementation of Low Power VLSI architecture for image compression, which uses Variable Length Coding method to compress JPEG signals [1]. The architecture is proposed for the quantized DCT output [5]. The proposed architecture consists of three optimized blocks, viz, Zigzag scanning, Run-length coding and Huffman coding [17]. In the proposed architecture, Zigzag scanner uses two RAM memories in parallel to make the scanning faster. The Run-length coder in the architecture, counts the number of intermediate zeros in between the successive non-zero DCT coefficients unlike the traditional run- length coder which counts the repeating string of coefficients to compress data [20]. The complexity of the Huffman coder is reduced by making use of a lookup table formed by arranging the {run, value} combinations in the order of decreasing probabilities with associated variable length codes [14]. The VLSI architecture of the design is implemented [12] using Verilog HDL with Low Power approches . The proposed hardware architecture for image compression was synthesized using RTL complier and it was mapped using 90nm standard cells. The Simulation is done using Modelsim. The synthesis is done using RTL compiler from CADENCE. The back end design like Layout is done using IC Compiler. Power consumptions of variable length encoder and decoder are limited to 0.798mW and 0.884mW with minimum area. The Experimental results confirms that 53% power saving is achieved in the dynamic power of huffman decoding [6] by including the lookup table approach and also a 27% of power saving is achieved in the RL-Huffman encoder [8].

Abstract: This paper proposes an automated system for recognizing plant species based on leaf images. Plant leaf images corresponding to three plant types, are analyzed using three different shape modelling techniques, the first two based on the Moments-Invariant (M-I) model and the Centroid-Radii (C-R) model and the third based on a proposed technique of Binary-Superposition (B-S). For the M-I model the first four central normalized moments have been considered. For the C-R model an edge detector has been used to identify the boundary of the leaf shape and 36 radii at 10 degree angular separation have been used to build the shape vector. The proposed approach consists of comparing binary versions of the leaf images through superposition and using the sum of non-zero pixel values of the resultant as the feature vector. The data set for experimentations consists of 180 images divided into training and testing sets and comparison between them is done using Manhattan, Euclidean and intersection norms. Accuracies obtained using the proposed technique is seen to be an improvement over the M-I and C-R based techniques, and comparable to the best figures reported in extant literature.

Abstract: In this work, we consider the Cauchy problem for Laplace equation which is to complete the missing data on a part of the boundary from the over specified conditions on the other part. Among the existing method to solve this ill-posed problem, we find the iterative algorithm (KMF standard algorithm) proposed by Kozlov, Mazya and Fomin. This algorithm requires a large number of iterations to complete convergence. Therefore, we propose an alternating iterative algorithm (KMF developed algorithm) to ameliorate the accuracy of the solution and reduce the number of iterations needed to achieve convergence. This algorithm is inspired by the KMF standard algorithm and the numerical tests performed to study the influence of data problem on the convergence rate. The implementation of this algorithm is performed by the finite element method using the software Freefem. The numerical tests developed show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm since it allows to have more accurate results as well as reducing the number of iterations needed for convergence.

Abstract: Static VAR Compensator (SVC) is added to the excitation system of a generator in order to enhance damping during low frequency oscillations. In this article Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) tuning approach and Genetic Algorithm (GA) are used to obtain supplementary controller parameters for oscillation damping. The performances of SVC without controller, SVC with LQR controller and SVC with GA controller are compared. Eleven bus two area four machine system is used for the study. The performance of the GA controller is found to be better than the LQR controller and without controller under different operating conditions. A comparison between the effect of SVC alone and the proposed GA and LQR is made.

Abstract: We propose a novel system of the dynamic optical tweezers generated by a dark soliton in the fiber optic loop. A dark soliton known as an optical tweezer is amplified and tuned within the microring resonator (MRR) system. The required tunable tweezers with different widths and powers can be controlled. The analysis of dark-bright soliton conversion using a dark soliton pulse propagating within a MRR is analyzed. The control dark soliton is input into the system via the add port of the add/drop filter. The dynamic behavior of the dark-bright soliton conversion is observed. The required stable signal is obtained via a drop and throughput ports of the add/drop filter with some suitable parameters. In application, generation of optical tweezers and transportation can be realized by using the proposed system, where the communication network is performed.

Abstract: The photovoltaic powered water pumping system investigated in this paper consists mainly of a photovoltaic generator, a boost converter, a tension inverter and a centrifugal motor-pump Then, we present a method which resolved the problem of input/output linearization of the nonlinear system from his mathematical model, this technique is associated to the Maximum Power Point control which depends on meteorological conditions (insulation and temperature) and the Results of simulation are given for various variables of the structure in the closed loop. Finally, we present the implementation of the MPP control in a kit based STM32 micro-controllers and the measurements were carried out on the experimental system that enabled us to validate the adopted control.

Abstract: Wavelet compression technique is widely used to achieve high good compression factor. In this paper, certain experiments were performed to identify the importance and the sensitivity of this technique to various internal and external parameters. Compression factor and SNR are the main factors to be optimized here against many factors like; image type, division factor, subblock size. Changing these parameters has shown a significant change in the performance leading to verified steps on how to choose these parameters in order to optimize the performance to get better compression and quality.

Abstract: Accidents in construction sites are unplanned occurrences involving movement of persons, objects or materials which may result in injuries, damages and losses to properties or people. The majority of accidents happen as result of unsafe acts and unsafe conditions. Since all hazards in construction workplaces are not always possible to be identified and eliminated therefore effective accident investigation programs are essential for collecting critical data. Construction accidents can be prevented just by identifying the root causes of accidents, which is possible by accident investigation techniques such as theories of accident causation theories and human errors; these theories provide explanations of why accidents happen. This paper is aimed at reviewing the most common accident causation theories which mainly focus on people variable, management aspects and physical characteristics of hazards. The intention of this paper is to enhance the overall understanding of the accident causation theories which signifies the identification of how hazards in the construction workplaces cause losses. On the contrary the weakness of these theories is that they do not offer extensive strategic guidelines for managers and supervisors for reducing risks at construction workplaces. Moreover, these theories imply the inappropriate perception that accidents in workplaces can be prevented if human errors are eliminated. Strategies need to be revised to manage the risk and workers need to be watchful of it. A great number of accidents can be prevented if the safety management system reflects both natural degradation and these intrinsic threats. The initial step in developing such system is preparing a model which shows the interaction between the accident likelihood and organizational tasks and activities in the presence of these hazards.

Abstract: This paper presents a 2-D FFT removal algorithm for reducing the speckle noise in ultrasound images. We apply the 2-D FFT on the ultrasound images to extract and remove the peaks which are corresponding to speckle noise in the frequency domain. The performance of the proposed method is tested on ultrasound images. The results of proposed method significantly improved for the noise removal.

Abstract: This paper deals with the development of a mathematical model for the replacement of a block of items using discrete-time higher order Markov Chains. In this study, a special reference has been given to a block of Air Conditioners. In order to make the model to yield more realistic results, three intermediate states viz., Minor Repair State, Semi-Major Repair State and Major Repair States have been considered between working State & breakdown State of the system. The model is developed with an objective of optimizing the maintenance costs associated with a block of similar multi state repairable items. Transition Probabilities for future periods are estimated by Spectral Decomposition Method for First Order Markov Chain (FOMC) and Moving Weighted Transition Probabilities (MWTP) Method for Second (Higher) Order Markov Chain (SOMC). Using these probabilities, the number of Air Conditioners in each state and the corresponding average maintenance costs are computed. The forecasted inflation for Air Conditioners and the real value of money using Fishermanâs relation are employed to study and develop the real time mathematical model for block replacement decision making.

Abstract: Reflected electrons are often unaccounted for in multipactor (MP) prediction algorithms supposedly because of how little they contribute to the initiation of multipaction. This research work investigated this claim by comparing the enhanced counter function values of simulation scenarios that included reflection electrons and those that did not, for a range of transmit power levels, in a space-borne rectangular waveguide with TE10 propagation mode using a developed MP prediction algorithm. Results generated indicated that, in the case were reflected electrons were properly accounted for, there were more transmit power levels with larger values of enhanced counter function (or increased electron population) than the case where consideration was not given to reflected electrons. The result also indicated that a multipactor discharge event can occur where under some current techniques multipactor is predicted not to occur.

Abstract: A new conceptual methodology and some methods are used to predict failures that could potentially occur in Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) systems. The combination methods for prediction durability and safety for fuel cell design starting with matrices of technological process, function, components and requirements for PEM fuel cell systems. After input with characteristic date are applied adequate some methods like Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), fuzzy method and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) for prognostic and analysis failure for PEMFC system or/and components, like product or/and process. For application and solving objectives according to the methodology proposed, as a case study to consider the methods specified for fault prediction in a PEM fuel cell type, based on analysis of process parameters like pressure flow of hydrogen and oxygen (or air), electric voltage, electric current and the humidification of the proton exchange membrane. These variables determining the functioning of the fuel cell are adequately analyzed with Fuzzy Fault Tree method (FFT). Methodology algorithm is solved using LabVIEW software provided by the National Instruments. The proposed methodology is validated by specified references from scientific literature under experimental and modelling appearance.

Abstract: The development of new catalysts for normal alkanes isomerization reveals a big importance. Three series of catalysts were prepared by using sol-gel method, using different metal concentration and in two different pH (acid and basic).The first series contains molybdenum, the second contains tungsten and the third contains the two metals (molybdenum and tungsten).The catalysts were characterized by several techniques; the obtained results show that the catalysts prepared in basic pH have a surfaces areas and porous volumes higher than those prepared in acid pH. In order to evaluate the catalytic performances of prepared catalysts, we carried out the catalytic tests with light naphtha (C5, C6) isomerization. The obtained results show that the best conversions are obtained with catalysts prepared into pH basic. The octane numbers of the obtained products (isomerate) are high compared to naphtha. The addition of the obtained products (isomerate) into the pool gasoline allows on the one hand, to obtain gasolines with high octane numbers which respect the environmental standards, and on the other hand, the possibility of developing the light fractions (C5 - C6) resulting from the crude oil distillation unit and condensed split distillation.

Abstract: The prosody modeling has been extensively applied in speech synthesis. This is simply because there is an obvious need for every speech synthesis system to generate prosodic properties of speech, for a natural and intelligible synthetic speech. This paper introduces a new technique for the prediction of a deterministic prosodic target at an early stage which relies on probabilistic models of F0 contour and may predict the duration. This paper, also, proposes a method that searches for the optimal unit sequence by maximizing a joint likelihood at both segmental and prosodic levels. This method has successfully been implemented in the analysis corpus for developing the Arabic prosody database which itself is the input of the Arabic speech synthesizer. This paper, also, shows a drastic improvement in the Arabic prosodic quality through extensive objective and subjective evaluation.

Abstract: This paper considers the control problem for an under actuated quadrotor UAV system in presence of sensor faults. Dynamic modelling of quadrotor while taking into account various physical phenomena, which can influence the dynamics of a flying structure is presented. Subsequently, a new control strategy based on robust integral backstepping approach using sliding mode and taking into account the sensor faults is developed. Lyapunov based stability analysis shows that the proposed control strategy design keep the stability of the closed loop dynamics of the quadrotor UAV even after the presence of sensor failures. Numerical simulation results are provided to show the good tracking performance of proposed control laws.

Abstract: In this paper the influences of the brunt forces on the Robots' joints is studied. Moreover, the efficacious ways that we can use to have a little corrosion in the joints are suggested. We know that through the movements of the robots we have a lot of friction phenomenon between the main body and the articulation. We propose this way that: when we use one viscoelastic material between the articulation and the main body, we can decrease the corrosion phenomenon when brunt or sudden hit forces have occurred. To avoid the exasperation of this problem we already studied on the forces of unpredictable and we shown that how can we eradicate this problem. At the end of this article we conclude that viscoelastic materials have more useful traits to use them in many cases especially at the joints of the robots, because one of the best natures of them are rebounded if any forces act on those.

Abstract: Tomato is one of the most popular garden vegetable in the world. Tomatoes have high values in Vitamin A and C and are naturally low in calories. Inoculation with plant-growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) has been attributed to the production of plant growth regulators at the root interface, which stimulate root development and result in better absorption of water and nutrients from the soil. A greenhouse experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of some PGPR on growth and nutrients uptake of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Red Cherry) plants. Seven treatments were used for bacteria (Pseudomonas, Azotobacter, Azosprillum, Pseudomonas + Azotobacter, Pseudomonas + Azosprillum, Azotobacter + Azosprillum and Pseudomonas + Azotobacter + Azosprillum) which were compared to control. Plants were cut at prebloom stage. Maximum level of shoot fresh weight was shown on Azotobacter + Azosprillum, Pseudomonas + Azotobacter + Azosprillum and Azosprillum treatments which significantly differed from other treatments. Maximum level of root fresh weight was achived in Azotobacter + Azosprillum, Pseudomonas + Azotobacter + Azosprillum and Azotobacter treatments which significantly differed from other treatments. Maximum level of shoot and root dry weights were achieved on Azotobacter + Azosprillum and Pseudomonas + Azotobacter + Azosprillum treatments. Minimum level of shoot and root dry weights were obtained in Pseudomonas + Azosprillum. Maximum root length was shown on Azotobacter + Azosprillum which significantly differed from other treatments. The highest amount of N, P and K were achieved on Pseudomonas + Azotobacter + Azosprillum treatment and the lowest amount was shown on Pseudomonas + Azotobacter treatment. Maximum level of Ca and Mg were obtained on Pseudomonas + Azotobacter and Pseudomonas + Azosprillum treatments which significantly differ from other treatments.

Abstract: In this paper a new sensor for the non-invasive monitoring of the oxygen saturation in blood has been designed, realized and tested to obtain an ultra-small device having very high noise immunity. This goal has been reached by using a particular integrated circuit, the PsoC (Programmable System on Chip), which integrates two programmable arrays, one analogue and one digital, to obtain a device with very large capabilities. We have configured the PsoC and developed the electronic interfaces. The proposed design allows the acquisition of the continuous component of the signal and the data elaboration has been done in place using a local CPU, without requiring to pass data to an external computer.

Abstract: Advances in digital video transmission have increased in the past few years. Security and privacy issues of the transmitted data have become an important concern in multimedia technology. Digital video stream is quite different from traditional textual data because interframe dependencies exist in digital video. Special digital video encryption algorithms are required because of their special characteristics, such as coding structure, large amount of data and real-time constraints. This paper presents a real-time partial encryption to digital video technique depends on Dynamic Dual Key Encryption Algorithm Based on joint Galois Fields which is fast enough to meet the real-time requirements with high level of security. In this technique the I-frame (Intra-frame) of the digital video scene is extracted and decomposed the color picture into its three color channels: luma channel (Y) and two chrominance channels Cb and Cr, with note that the frames of digital video is in YCbCr color system, the Dynamic Dual Key Encryption Algorithm Based on joint Galois Fields is applied to the Y channel. The encryption technique achieves best timing results, and it provides high level of security by its great resistant against brute force attacks.

Abstract: In design of analog circuits not only the gain and speed are important but power dissipation, supply voltage, linearity, noise and maximum voltage swing are also important. Noise limits the minimum signal level that a circuit can process with acceptable quality. Today analog designers constantly deal with the problem of noise because it trades with power dissipation, speed, and linearity. So in this paper a biquad GIC notch filter is design which provides low noise linearity. In this research, the design and VLSI implementation of active analog filter, based on the Generalized Impedance Converter (GIC) circuit, are presented. The analog features include the filter type (band pass, high pass, low pass or notch), the centre or cut off frequency, and the quality factor. The circuit is then modeled and simulated using the Cadence Design Tools software package. Active filters are implemented using a combination of passive and active (amplifying) components, and require an outside power source. Operational amplifiers are frequently used in active filter designs. These can have high Q factor, and can achieve resonance without the use of inductors. This paper presents a new biquad GIC notch filter topology for image rejection in heterodyne receivers and Front End receiver applications. The circuit contains two op-amp, resistors, and capacitor topology for testing purposes. It is implemented with standard CMOS 0.18μm technology. The circuit consumes 0.54 mW of power with a open loop gain 0dB, 1 dB compression point the linear gain obtained +7.5dBm at 1.1 kHz and 105 degree phase response , from a 1.8V power supply optimum.

Abstract: Since all the multimedia products are released via internet so itâs an urgent need today to protect the data from malicious attacks. This lead to the research in the area of Digital watermarking which intends to protect the copyright information of the intellectuals. In this paper a DCT based watermarking scheme is proposed which provides higher resistance to image processing attacks such as JPEG compression, noise, rotation, translation etc .In this approach, the watermark is embedded in the mid frequency band of the DCT blocks carrying low frequency components and the high frequency sub band components remain unused. Watermark is inserted by adjusting the DCT coefficients of the image and by using the private key. Watermark can then be extracted using the same private key without resorting to the original image. Performance analysis shows that the watermark is robust.

Abstract: Due to their reliability, performance and rapid prototyping, programmable logic devices overcome the use of ASICs in the digital system design. However, the similar solution for analog signals was not so easy to find. But the evolutionary trend in Very Large Scale Integrated (VLSI) circuits technologies fuelled by fierce industrial competition to reduce integrated circuits (ICs) cost and time to market has led to design the Field-Programmable Analog Array (FPAA) which is the analog equivalent of the Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). In fact, the use of FPAAs reduces the complexity of analog design, decreases the time to market and allows products to be easily updated and improved outside the manufacturing environment. Thus, the reconfigurable feature of FPAAs enables real time updating of analog functions within the system using the Configurable Analog Blocks (CABs) system and appropriate software. In this paper, an interesting analog phase shift detection circuit based on FPAA architecture is presented. In fact, the phase shift detection circuit will distinguish a faulty circuit from a faulty-free one by controlling the phase shift between their corresponding outputs. The system is practically designed and simulated by using the AN221E04 board which is an Anadigm product. The Circuit validation was carried out using the AnadigmDesigner®2 software.

Abstract: The present study is concerned with the investigation of mechanical properties of A713 alloy castings produced by investment casting process using expandable polystyrene as the pattern material and the plaster of paris as the mould material. Experiments were conducted as per Taguchiâs L9 orthogonal array. Castings were made under the constraint of different process parameters like mould firing temperature, pouring temperature, firing time and mixing of silica sand of different grain fineness numbers to investigate their effects on the surface hardness, impact strength and tensile strength of the final castings. The variations in the trend of the aforesaid mechanical properties were observed and it was deduced out that high mould firing temperature, higher pouring temperature, maximum firing time and high grain fineness number significantly reduce the mechanical properties of A713 alloy castings produced by the above process.

Abstract: Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) is a recognized tool for performing software process maturity and capability evaluation in software organizations. Experience with software companies in Nigeria shows that most project management activities do not follow the conventional practices. The study considered the extent to which companies make use of organizational software process in performing their software development activities. The extent to which software products are developed and documented as well as level of adherence to existing organizational software process were studied among Twenty-six (26) selected software companies in Nigeria. The selection criteria were based on: availability of personnel to provide adequate information; size of the development team; how established the companies are; and geographical distribution. Our study revealed that the software companies do not have adequate documentation of their organizational software process, and that most of the companies carry out their software development process by means of implicit in-house methods.

Abstract: In the present paper, Radio over fiber (ROF) transport systems have the potential to offer large transmission capacity, significant mobility and flexibility, as well as economic advantage due to its broad bandwidth and low attenuation characteristics. We have investigated parametrically and numerically the high performance of Radio over fiber communication systems over traditional optical communication systems using different coding formats over wide range of the affecting operating parameters. Moreover we have analyzed the transmission bit rates and products per channel based standard single mode fiber made of both silica-doped and plastic materials with using modified Shannon technique in addition to use different coding formats such as Return to Zero (RZ) code, and Non Return to Zero (NRZ) code for ultra long haul transmission applications. We have taken into account the bit error rate (BER) for ROF systems with comparing it with traditional optical fiber communication systems as a proof for improvement of signal to noise ratio.

Abstract: Wireless Sensors Network is a novel field shows tremendous application potential. Abstract: The bandwidth enhancement technique using coplanar parasitic element is presented in this paper. This paper presents the analysis of gap coupled annular ring microstrip antenna. The proposed antenna is designed to operate at 6.2 GHz. Details of the proposed antenna and measured results are presented and discussed. The various parameters of the patch antenna are calculated and the antenna impedance is matched to 50 ohm of coaxial feed. The simulated impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 4.8% for lower band (5.07-5.32 GHz) and 2.13% for higher band (6.05-6.18 GHz).

Abstract: As for the ensurement of copyright protection of the cover image and the watermark, we propose a DWT based dual watermarking technique in which blind and non-blind algorithms are used. The binary image and the mid-frequency coefficients of the cover image are used to modify the DWT coefficients of the primary watermark .As some features are embedded in the watermark, the security is increased and it ensures the protection of watermark from any copy attack. For the fulfilment of the purpose a new pseudorandom generator based on the mathematical constant Ï has been developed. The unpredictable nature of the embedding process has been ensured by the incorporated randomness of the existing techniques in selecting the location to embed the watermark. Since the watermarked cover image with the signed-logo is subjected to various attacks like, rotation, noising etc, so the results show that it is very robust and has good invisibility.

Abstract: The most important systems being used for the effective and safe operation of an airplane is the Altitude Measurement Systems, a duty carried out by means of an Altimeter. The Altimeter output is affected by the input that is given to it. The input that is used by the Altimeter to show the desired altitude is nothing but the barometric pressure at the height at which the aircraft is travelling in. The barometric pressure is converted to the appropriate altitude by means of either Pitot Tubes or Sensors. The Pitot-tube is being used widely in all commercial airliners. The Pitot-Static systems are extremely susceptible to blockage by foreign bodies in case the aircraft sits on the tarmac for long time. To avoid contamination of the liquid which senses the change in pressure, the pitot-tubes are covered and if this cover is not removed, the pitot-tube gets blocked. Sensors are extremely susceptible to be burdened by ice, and in cases where the heating is not available in the place where the sensors are kept, erratic altitudes may result. It is therefore proposed, theoretically, to make efficient use of a four bar chain mechanism, called the Wattâs Indicator Mechanism, in order to eradicate the effects of blockage by foreign matter and burdening by ice and thereby promoting the effective measurement of Altitude in Airplanes. This mechanism would be able to provide means of measuring altitude if calibrated appropriately.

Abstract: The objective of the paper was to design and development of a stereo vision system to build 3D model for underwater objects. The developed algorithm first enhance the underwater image quality then construct 3D model by using iterative closest point (ICP) algorithm. From the enhanced images feature points are extracted and feature based matching was done between these pair of images. Epipolar geometry was constructed to remove the outliers between matched points and to recover the geometrical relation between cameras. Then stereo images were rectified and dense matched. Then 3D point was estimated using linear triangulation. After the registration of multi-view range images, a 3D model was constructed using a Linear Triangulation technique.

Abstract: The purpose of this investigation was to identify the determinants of patient satisfaction with outcome after a period of wearing prosthesis. The instruments demonstrate adequate internal consistency of average mean 2.39 for lower extremity functional status and average mean 3.44 for health related quality of life. Subjective variables associated with pain were independent predictors of patient satisfaction. Thus, in assessing patient satisfaction, importance of patient-derived subjective assessment of symptoms and function are emphasized. Documenting mechanical stability of the prosthesis is inadequate when reporting follow-up studies and a questionnaires assessing patient satisfaction should be added to provide a better picture of the outcome and results.

Abstract: The magnetic properties of Mg1-xZnxFe2O4 (where x = 0.3,0.4,0.5,0.6) ferrites have been studied. Magnesium Zinc Ferrites was synthesized by oxalate co-precipitation method at different synthesis temperature and characterized by X-ray diffraction and far IR absorption techniques, scanning Electron microscopy .Far infrared absorption spectra show two significant absorption bands ,first at about 600 cm -1 and second at about 425 cm â1,which were respectively attributed to tetrahedral (A) and octahedral (B) sites of the spinel .The positions of the bands are found to be composition dependent and dependent on the temperature of synthesis. The force constants KT and K0 were calculated and plotted against zinc concentration and temperature of synthesis. Composition dependent of force constants is explained on the basis of cation-oxygen bond distances of respective sites and cation distribution.

Abstract: This paper described our research experiences of building an intelligent system to monitor and control road traffic in a Nigerian city. A hybrid methodology obtained by the crossing of the Structured Systems Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM) and the Fuzzy-Logic based Design Methodology was deployed to develop and implement the system. Problems were identified with the current traffic control system at the â+â junctions and this necessitated the design and implementation of a new system to solve the problems. The resulting fuzzy logic-based system for traffic control was simulated and tested using a popular intersection in a Nigerian city; notorious for severe traffic logjam. The new system eliminated some of the problems identified in the current traffic monitoring and control systems.

Abstract: Signature is the easiest way to issue the document. The problem of handwritten signature verification is a pattern recognition task used to differentiate two classes of original and fake signatures. The subject of interest in this study is about signature recognition that deals with the process of verifying the written signature patterns of human individuals and specifically between right-handed and left-handed people. The method that been used in this project is an on-line verification by using IntuosTM Graphics Tablet and Intuos pen as the data capturing device. On-line signature verification involved the capturing of dynamic signature signals such as pressure of pen tips, time duration of whole signature, altitude and azimuth. The ability to capture the signature and have it immediately available in a digital form for verification has opens up a range of new application areas about this topic.

Abstract: The favourable climate conditions of the Southeast Europe and the recent legislation for the utilization of renewable energy sources provide a substantial incentive for the installation of photovoltaic (PV) systems. In this paper, the simulation of a grid-connected photovoltaic system is presented with the use of the computer software package PVsyst and its performance is evaluated. The performance ratio and the various power losses (temperature, soiling, internal network, power electronics) are calculated. There is also calculated the positive effects on the environment by reducing the release of gases that cause greenhouse effect.

Abstract: Fault location is very important in power system engineering in order to clear fault quickly and restore power supply as soon as possible with minimum interruption. In this study a 300km, 330kv, 50Hz power transmission line model was developed and simulated using power system block set of MATLAB to obtain fault current waveforms. The waveforms were analysed using the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) toolbox by selecting suitable wavelet family to obtain the pre-fault and post-fault coefficients for estimating the fault distance. This was achieved by adding non negative values of the coefficients after subtracting the pre-fault coefficients from the post-fault coefficients. It was found that better results of the distance estimation, were achieved using Daubechies âdb5âwavele,t with an error of three percent (3%).

Abstract: Line balancing is the phase of assembly line study that nearly equally divides the works to be done among the workers so that the total number of employees required on the assembly line can be minimized. As small improvements in the performance of the system can lead to significant monetary consequences, it is of utmost importance to develop practical solution procedures that may yield a significant enhancement in the throughputs of production. Bangladesh Machine Tool Factory (BMTF) was undertaken as a research project which had been incurring loss for a long time at their current production rate. In the course of analysis, a line balancing (LB) technique was employed to have a detail analysis of the line. This paper describes how an efficient heuristic approach was applied to solve the deterministic and single-model ALB problem. The aim of the work was sought as to minimize the number of workstations with minimum cycle time so as to maximize the efficiency of the production line. The performance level was found so low that there was no way to improve the productivity without any reduction of the idle time from the line curtailing the avoidable delays so far possible. All the required data was measured and the parameters such as elapsed times, efficiencies, number of workers, time of each of the workstations etc. was calculated from the existing line. The same production line was redesigned through rehabilitating & reshuffling the workstations as well as the workers and using the newly estimated time study data, keeping minimum possible idle time at each of the stations. A new heuristic approach, the Longest Operation Time (LOT) method was used in designing the new production line. After set up of the new production line, the cost of production and effectiveness of the new line was computed and compared with those of the existing one. How much costs could be saved and how much productivity could be increased for the newly designed production line that were estimated and the production was found to have been increased by a significant amount reducing the overall production cost per unit.

Abstract: MetaSearch is utilizing multiple other search systems to perform simultaneous search. A MetaSearch Engine (MSE) is a search system that enables MetaSearch. To perform a MetaSearch, user query is sent to multiple search engines; once the search results returned, they are received by the MSE, then merged into a single ranked list and the ranked list is presented to the user. When a query is submitted to a MSE, decisions are made with respect to the underlying search engines to be used, what modifications will be made to the query and how to score the results. These decisions are typically made by considering only the userâs keyword query, neglecting the larger information need. The cornerstone of their technology is their rank aggregation method. In other words, Result merging is a key component in a MSE. The effectiveness of a MSE is closely related to the result merging algorithm it employs. In this paper, we want to investigate a variety of result merging methods based on a wide range of available information about the retrieved results, from their local ranks, their titles and snippets, to the full documents of these results.

Abstract: Despite the fact ultra-wideband technology has been around for over 30 years, there is a newfound excitement about its potential for communications. In this paper we are specifically focused on a software radio transceiver design for impulse-based UWB with the ability to transmit a raw data rate of 100 Mbps yet encompass the adaptability of a reconfigurable digital receiver. Direct sequence spread spectrum has become the modulation method of choice for wireless local area networks, because itâs numerous advantages such as jammer suppression, code division multiple access and ease of implementation. We also observe its characteristics and complete the modulation techniques with MATLAB Simulink. The latter includes bit error rate testing for variety of modulation schemes and wireless channels using pilot-based matched filter estimation techniques. Ultimately, the transceiver design demonstrates the advantage and challenge of UWB technology while boasting high data rate communication capability and providing the flexibility of a research test bed.

Abstract: There are numerous real time & operation critical systems in which the failure of the system is unacceptable at any stage of processing. The examples of such systems are like ATM machines, satellites, spacecraft etc. In this paper a fault tolerant microprocessor is developed by using checker units with a fault secure ALU and to develop a fault secure ALU the parity prediction logic and two rail checker method was used. Finally triple modular redundancy is applied to develop a fault tolerant processor. Proposed method was validated using the VHDL test environment and the results showed that the reliability of the system increased with a little area overhead.

Abstract: Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) constitute a special class of wireless data communication networks. In wireless sensor networks, sensor nodes are randomly deployed. Since the sensor nodes are required to operate under remote conditions without fresh supply of power to replenish itself, energy conservation becomes the major constraint. This necessitates the design of WSNs with the capability of prolonging the lifetime of network. To achieve minimum energy consumption, several MAC protocols have already proposed. This paper aims to survey and analyze the most energy efficient medium access control protocols and to compare their performances. Further, this paper proposes a new MAC protocol based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). In ELE-MAC protocol, by employing OFDMA the energy consumption of the node can be minimized.

Abstract: One of the most important parameters of the system where wind turbine generators (WTGs) are connected is voltage profile at the point of common coupling (PCC). In the earlier stage, WTGs were possible to be disconnected from the system to avoid the damage of WTGs. Following the rapid injection of WTGs to the existing network during last decades, the transmission line operators (TSOs) require WTGs to stay connected in certain level of fault to continue support the grid. This new requirements have been compiled in new international grid codes. In this paper, superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) is applied to improve the voltage profile of PCC bus where WTGs equipped with doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) is connected to meet the used gird codes of Spain and German during grid dip and swell. The voltage dip at the grid side is examined to comply with the low voltage ride through (LVRT) while the voltage swell at the grid side is examined to comply with the high voltage ride through (HVRT) of both Spain and German voltage ride through (VRT).

Abstract: In this paper, a travelling wave electroabsorption modulators (TWEAMs) based on asymmetric intra-step-barrier coupled double strained quantum wells (AICD-SQW) active layer is designed and analyzed at 1.55 μm for the first time. The AICD-SQW structure has advantages such as very low insertion loss, zero chirp, large Stark shift and high extinction ratio in comparison with the intra-step quantum well (IQW) structure. For this purpose, the influence of the electrode width and ground metal separation on their transmission line microwave properties (microwave index, microwave loss, and characteristic impedance) and modulation bandwidth are analyzed.
