Edward R. Kundahl, Ph.D., is a retired American scientist, entrepreneur, and digital marketing expert who built a unique career spanning from cutting-edge biomedical research to groundbreaking innovations in online marketing and business development. Known for his adaptability, foresight, and commitment to empowering others, Kundahl’s legacy is marked by decades of transformative impact in both academia and the private sector.

Born in 1955 in Mineola, New York, Kundahl’s academic journey began at New York University, where he earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Cellular, Molecular, and Developmental Biology and Earth and Space Science. He pursued his graduate studies at the same institution, earning an MA and a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology. His thirst for discovery led him to prestigious postdoctoral fellowships at Harvard Medical School and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where he conducted advanced cancer research under Dr. Arthur Pardee, as well as at Roswell Park Cancer Institute with Dr. Joel A. Huberman.

Kundahl’s early scientific contributions focused on DNA replication, protein synthesis, and molecular imaging. From 1982 to 1984, he served as a Senior Research Associate and Lecturer at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he directed the Cell Culture Facility and lectured in multiple departments including Pharmacology and Molecular Biology. This period of his career cemented his reputation as a thought leader in biological research and an educator with a gift for mentoring emerging scientists.

His transition from academia to industry was seamless and visionary. In 1984, Kundahl joined BioImage, Inc., a pioneering biotechnology company in Michigan. Rising quickly through the ranks, he played a pivotal role in designing and marketing advanced image analysis systems for molecular biology, including the VISION Image Analyzer and IQ Desktop Image Analyzer. When BioImage was acquired by Kodak, Kundahl became Technical Director of Sales and Marketing for Kodak’s Life Science Research Group, leading global product launches and developing strategic partnerships. His innovative contributions earned him Kodak’s prestigious “Making It Happen” national marketing award—recognition of his rare ability to combine technical insight with commercial excellence.

From 1988 to 1994, Kundahl worked at BioVISION Marketing Group, where he led high-stakes projects for clients in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and research. A proven turnaround expert, he helped numerous companies double or triple their sales forecasts within months. His work included launching diagnostic products, establishing advisory boards, and guiding venture-funded startups to profitability. His scientific rigor, paired with his marketing and operational expertise, made him an invaluable asset across multiple industries.

In 1994, sensing the rise of the internet economy, Edward Kundahl made a bold leap into digital entrepreneurship. He founded BusinessCreator, Inc., based in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Initially created as a network of 22 e-commerce stores, the company soon evolved into a full-service digital agency focused on helping small to medium-sized businesses thrive online. Under Kundahl’s leadership, BusinessCreator became a pioneer in template-based website design, mobile app development, SEO, local marketing, and lead generation. He developed the WebCreatorPlus platform, a low-cost, scalable solution that allowed small businesses to create mobile-responsive websites without technical expertise.

BusinessCreator also offered specialized services such as Smarted Deals on Wheels, a unique app that helped retailers deliver real-time promotions without needing to invest in their own app infrastructure. Recognized by Apple as a Gold Level Developer, Kundahl’s firm stood out for its ability to make cutting-edge tools accessible and affordable to small business owners. His holistic approach combined technology with a deep understanding of market dynamics, helping countless entrepreneurs increase visibility, attract customers, and scale sustainably.

Beyond his entrepreneurial achievements, Edward Kundahl is also an author and educator. His book, Local Market Domination: 7 Must Know Strategies to Drive Local Traffic Straight to Your Door, provided practical insights for local businesses seeking to grow their customer base. In How to Sell More on LinkedIn, he distilled years of experience into a tactical guide for leveraging social media for sales and professional influence. These works reflect his mission to share knowledge and uplift others—whether they’re running a brick-and-mortar shop or building a digital empire.

In the final phase of his career, Kundahl operated under the alias Edward Lott at ZeroRisk Cases, Inc., where he brought his marketing expertise to the legal services industry. As he approached retirement, he helped wind down operations and left the company in 2024, concluding a remarkable career that had spanned research labs, biotech boardrooms, digital startups, and service-based industries.

Today, Edward R. Kundahl resides in Allentown, Pennsylvania, enjoying a well-earned retirement. Though no longer active in business, his influence remains embedded in the systems, companies, and individuals he helped shape. His story is a testament to lifelong learning, bold reinvention, and the power of combining scientific depth with entrepreneurial spirit.

From cancer research to website builders, from electrophoresis to eBooks, Edward R. Kundahl’s life has been defined by a commitment to transformation. He is a rare example of someone who not only adapts to change but thrives on it—always one step ahead, always building the future.
