Eric Chun-Pu Chu is recognized as a pioneer for advancing chiropractic care in Hong Kong, Asia, and beyond. He is the founder of New York Medical Group and serves as the co-owner and Chief Business Officer of EC Healthcare, the largest public listed, non-hospital healthcare group in Hong Kong.

Chu served as the Chairman of the Chiropractic Doctors Association of Hong Kong from 2014 to 2024. He established the Hong Kong College of Chiropractic in 2023, the first institution of its kind in Hong Kong. He founded the Sports Chiropractic Council of Hong Kong China, the official council member facing the Olympic and International Federation of Sports Chiropractors. Currently, he is a member of numerous strategic committees and working groups within the healthcare sector. At the age of 46, he became the first Chinese recipient of the David Chapman-Smith Honor, the highest global accolade bestowed by the World Federation of Chiropractic.

A true visionary, Chu recognized the scarcity of chiropractors serving the local population in Kowloon and the New Territories of Hong Kong upon his return to the city in 1994. Taking it upon himself to address this shortfall, he significantly expanded the local chiropractic community and established Hong Kong as a significant location on the global chiropractic map by fostering a network of chiropractors and collaborating with researchers worldwide.

With no established chiropractic profession in China, Eric completed the Chinese version of the WHO Guidelines on Basic Training and Safety in Chiropractic and presented it to government officials at the first WHO Congress on Traditional Medicine in Beijing in 2008. In 2016, he founded a multinational, multi-university scholarship program, serving as a chiropractor manpower incubator for Hong Kong students. He led the development of the region's first 100 chiropractic case reports between 2018 and the present. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, he received the prestigious International Board of Chiropractic Examiners (IBCE) Award at the 17th World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) Biennial Congress, organized by the Australian Chiropractors Association (ACA). He has been recognized as the most prolific author of case reports by the Chiropractic & Manual Therapies journal and as the world's most prodigious author of case reports in the World Federation of Chiropractic Report. In UK, he was honored as an International Fellow in 2018 and became the 15th Specialist Fellow at The Royal College of Chiropractors’ Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation & Exercise Faculty.

In his leadership roles across various organizations, he has brought the largest global public health event dedicated to promoting spinal health and well-being, World Spine Day, to Hong Kong. His organizations have received 22 out of 80 World Spine Day Awards from 2013 to 2023, establishing Hong Kong as a leading region in promoting spinal health globally. His dedication to Sustainable Development Goals had awarded him by United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
