Giorgio Fagiolo is associate professor of economics at the S.Anna School of Advanced Studies (Pisa, Italy), where he holds a tenured position in the Laboratory of Economics and Management. He holds a bachelor's degree in mathematical statistics from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and a Ph.D. in economics from the European University Institute (Florence, Italy). His main areas of scientific interest include agent-based computational economics, complex networks, evolutionary games, industrial dynamics, and economic methodology (with particular emphasis on the scientific status of agent-based computational economics; empirical validation of economic models; and their policy-related implications). His papers were published, among others, in Computational Economics, European Physical Journal B, Industrial and Corporate Change, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Economic Geography, Physical Review E; as well as in several peer-reviewed book chapters. He has recently co-edited (with C. Birchenhall and P. Windrum) a special issue on empirical validation of simulation models in Computational Economics and a special issue on policy in agent based models in the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization (with H. Dawid).
