Indrakanta Das (IK Das) was born in Baidyapur, Burdwan in the Eastern Indian State of West Bengal and was educated in the Govt school ‘Baidyapur Ram Krishna Vidyapith’ at Baidyapur. He obtained his Bachelor degree in Agriculture from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswa Vidyalaya, Mohanpur, West Bengal in 1992. He completed his Master’s and Doctorate degree from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi in Mycology and Plant Pathology and Bacteriology in the year 1994 and 1997 respectively. Same year he joined Agriculture Research Service under Indian Council of Agricultural Research and was posted at National Research Centre for Sorghum. His main area of research is biotic stresses in crop plants and specialised in grain mold and charcoal rot resistance in sorghum. Presently he is working as Principal Scientist (Plant Pathology), Indian Institute of Millets Research in Hyderabad, India.
