PublicationsList Server

Your own PublicationsList Server seamlessly linking academic staff, individual and departmental websites, and your institutional repository.

The main cost in populating a repository is time for curators, librarians and the researchers who are required to add their own publications. PublicationsList Server is a user friendly system that provides a single point of entry for researchers to manage their publications list. It supports batch submission to repositories and display on personal and departmental websites.

Based on the mature, highly acclaimed technology driving PublicationsList.org and with great attention paid to ease of use and functionality it lets staff efficiently and effectively handle their own publications list. With PublicationsList Server they can:

PublicationsList Server does not replace your repository: rather it acts as a convenient information aggregator, data entry, and display system for your users, leaving management and maintenance of the repository in the hands of professional staff. Integration is via standard APIs (SWORD) or additional open source modules developed with JISC funding for exactly this purpose.

Benefits

Staff save time because they can manage all aspects of their publication record through the one system. The sophisticated metadata entry and import tools from PublicationsList.org have been honed to make the process of adding publications as smooth and painless as possible.

There are fewer errors because the system minimizes the need to retype or copy and paste metadata.

The repository gets populated faster because staff are motivated by the other benefits of adding their publications, particularly the comprehensive and professional listing on their own webpages.

Repository staff can focus on managing the resources themselves rather than development and maintenance of diverse user interfaces for their users.

Requirements

PublicationsList Server runs on an Apache server with PHP. It supports standard interfaces to repositories (SWORD) and also comes with free open source DSpace and e-Prints modules that can be added to the repository installation to make the connection even easier to set up.
