I am a plant and soil ecologist with a strong taste for statistical analysis and data science and familiar with bioinformatics. After 12 years working on R&D projects at the Public Sector (CSIC and Universidad de Granada), I spent 6 years working on diverse biotechnology developments for the Oil & Energy industry at Repsol. Now I am currently working at the Repsol Risk Division enlarging my statistical and modelling knowledge on applied projects mostly focused on financial risk modeling.

I loved science communication and teaching, in such way I have participated as a teacher on a Repsol internal project focused on “democratize” statistics (i.e. making statistics and data analysis accessible to the general public), but also in Masters.

A brief resume: During my PhD I focused on studying the effects that changing rainfall patterns would have on arid ecosystems, including manipulations of rain quantity, frequency and seasonal distribution of precipitation. Diversity impacts, ecophysioIogy changes and drought adaptations were addressed. In 2008 I started looking into belowground processes (root dynamics, soil respiration, plant-microorganism) and in my last position at the Estación Experimental del Zaidín (CSIC) I had the opportunity to learn the most common molecular biology techniques in ecology looking at the diversity of arbuscular mycorrhiza.
In January 2013 I joined the Biology lab at the REPSOL Technology Center where I faced a exciting and challenging stage addressing projects where biology and biotechnology tools are applied to produce new compounds that may be use as e.g. biofuels or to solve typical problems and challenges of oil and gas companies.
I am looking forward to continuing growing both professionally and personally, using my knowledge background and motivation to develop the new projects in which I have been involved.
