Josephine P. Galicha is an ESL (English as a Second Language) full-time Assistant Professor of the Department of English and Literature in the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila, Philippines. She teaches Speech Communication, Study and Thinking Skills, Writing in the Discipline, and World Literature.
She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Business Management at Ateneo de Manila University in Loyola Heights, Quezon City where she was an ASF scholar from 1975-1977. In 1992, she finished her M.Ed. in English as a Second Language in the University of the Philippines-Diliman. In the same institution, she completed the academic coursework of forty-eight (48) units for a Ph.D. in Language Education as a UP Presidential Scholarship grantee. Academic pursuits include action research on language teaching and a study on Asian and European languages.
Ms. Galicha had been a presenter in international conferences, one of which was the 5oth Anniversary and 6th PALT International Conference held in SOLAIR, University of the Philippines- Diliman in December 2010 for her “Teacher-Designed, Class-Specific Questionnaire in the Periodic Assessment of ESL Classes in the Tertiary Level.” Her “Verbals in a Venn” was presented in the International Congress on English Grammar at Century Park Sheraton in January 2013 and in the 5th International Journal of Arts and Sciences Academic Conference in Freiburg, Germany in December 2013. She has likewise presented in the Second European Conferences in East Sussex, United Kingdom for her "Done with the Do's in a Venn" in July 2014, in the 5th International Conference on Language Learning for her "Empowering and Engaging ESL Learners in the ESL Curriculum Evaluation" in Kobe, Japan in May 2015, and for her "SIM to Connect" in Singapore in June, 2016.
She is presently an Associate Editor for the College of Arts and Sciences Journal of the university.
