Dr. S. M. Abe Kawsar completed his undergraduate studies at University of Chittagong, Bangladesh in 1993 and received his M.Sc degree (1994) in Organic Chemistry from the same University. He received his M. Phil degree (2003) in Natural Products Chemistry from the Department of Chemistry, Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh. He was awarded Ph.D degree (2005-2009) in Glycobiology from Yokohama City University, Japan under the scholarship of Japanese Government (MEXT) for his work on the purification and characterization of carbohydrate-binding proteins (lectins) from invertebrate lower animals. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2009-2011) by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) for two years in the laboratory of Glycobiology and Marine Biochemistry, Department of Genome System Science at Yokohama City University, Japan, he conducted studies on animal lectins, especially on the structure and functions of lectins. Now he is enjoying as JSPS Invitation Fellow at YCU, Japan. He has published more than 65 original articles in peer-reviewed International and National journals.
He was appointed as a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh since 2001. Currently, Dr. Kawsar is working as a Professor, Laboratory of Carbohydrate and Protein Chemistry, Department of Chemistry at the same University.
He served as a reviewer of research articles for many journals. Dr. Kawsar is the editorial board members of the some journals published by Academic Journals Inc., USA, Knowledgia Review, Malaysia, and ANSI, Pakistan. He is also the member of the Scientific and Technical Committees & Editorial Review Board in few International journals since 2009.
