Dr. Kaitin joined the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development in 1986 and has served as its Director since 1998. He is also Research Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Kaitin is a visiting lecturer at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, and he serves on the faculty of the European Center for Pharmaceutical Medicine at the University of Basel. Dr. Kaitin is an internationally recognized expert on the science of drug development. He writes and speaks frequently on factors that contribute to the slow pace and high cost of pharmaceutical R&D and the impact of efforts to speed the drug development process. He has provided public testimony before the U.S. Congress on pharmaceutical development, regulation, and policy issues. Dr. Kaitin is frequently quoted in the business and trade press on R&D trends in the research-based drug industry and new models of innovation. He is a former President of the Drug Information Association, and he is currently Editor-in-Chief of Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology. He is on the editorial boards of a number of peer-review journals, and he serves on the boards of directors and scientific advisory boards of several public, private, and not-for-profit life sciences companies and organizations. Dr. Kaitin received a B.S. from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Rochester.
