Mariano Pracella, graduate in Chemistry cum laude at the University of Naples (Italy), has been Senior Researcher of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and responsible of the Institute of Composite and Biomedical Materials (IMCB-CNR), Pisa. He is presently research associate of the Institute for Chemical and Physical Processes (IPCF-CNR), Pisa. His research activity has been focused on the study of morphology, functional modification, reactive compatibilization processes and physical/mechanical properties of polymer blends, composites and nanocomposites containing natural or hybrid fillers. He has been responsible of CNR research projects, as well as international cooperation projects with Polish and Bulgarian Academies of Sciences, Florida State Univ., CONICET (Argentina), CONICIT (Venezuela) and Alexandria Univ. (Egypt). He has been the co-ordinator of an European Project on recycling of post-consumer plastic materials. He is habilitated as full prof. of Materials Science and Technology, and holds a teaching course on Composite Materials at the Dept. of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry of Pisa University.
