Philippe Martins graduated from Orsay university and ESIGETEL in 1996, where he obtained respectively two master degrees in signal processing and in networking and computer science. In 2000, he received a PhD with honors at ENST (Paris), in electrical engineering, for his work on signaling protocols for ATM networks and their performance evaluation, in collaboration with Hewlett Packard.
Philippe Martins is associate professor since 2000, in the networking and computer science department, at Télécom ParisTech (previously known as ENST or Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications). His main research interests lie in performance evaluation in wireless networks, RRM and scheduling, handover algorithms and radio metrology. He has published several papers on different international journals and conferences. He is an IEEE member for ten years, and has reviewed several IEEE journals and conference papers. He has received three best paper awards in IEEE conferences.
He also worked in several national and European research programs in wireless communications. He worked with EADS in the context of APCO standardization for new APCO phase 2 PMR air interfaces. Since 2006, he is involved in research for wireless standardization activities of CCSDS for the European Spatial Agency.
