Mirka Greskova (2008)  Kognitívne a afektívne aspekty informačného správania pri interakcii s agentom na vyhľadávanie informácií / Cognitive and affective aspects of information behaviour by interaction with information search agent   Ikaros 12: 7.
Abstract: The article presents cognitive and affective aspects of information behaviour in the context of information search. It is focused on research methodology and methods aimed at interaction of human with information search agent. Author contributes some research results which were realized as a part of thesis research project. Interaction is perceived as being framed by information behaviour consisting of cognitive, affective and sensomotoric dimensions. As the research results showed, core of the interaction is created by action level blended with subjectâs orientation to object and context. Uncertainty dominated from the perspective of affective information behaviour. Further satisfaction, dissatisfaction, interest, confusion and curiosity were the most frequent affective states. Some differences in behaviour of advanced users and novices were compared and generalized. Synthesis of results of closing interviews and affective aspects of solved tasks contributed to particular recommendations which can help improve interaction of human and agent interface and decrease cognitive load.

Mirka Greskova (2010)  Know-where: Internet Information Search Trends   In: Proceedings of the 5th International Workshop Knowledge Management Edited by:Jozef Kelemen; Jozef Hvorecky. Trencin: Vysoká škola manažmentu
Abstract: As information search have become one of the crucial internet activities, many disciplines, including knowledge management, computer science, information science etc., focus on this problem. Know-where is of high importance as one of the dimensions of knowledge. Our study reviews recent trends in information search tools, which are also known as search 2.0 or third generation search tools. New development of internet information search is described by social, intelligent, and visual search. Details on social search from the perspective of relevance feedback, business social networks and Q&A systems are discussed. Artificial intelligence technologies are incorporated in personalized search tools, recommender systems, semantic search tools, intelligent information agents, and NLP applications. Visualization enabling easier interaction by information search is another leading trend. Each trend is characterized and explained with the support of selected examples of the specific search tools.

Abstract: Contribution reviews the most recent trends in educational technology with orientation for e-learning in the higher education context. Author describes behavioral changes of young people influenced by technologies. E-learning and its basic types are characterized. Attention is paid to E-learning 2.0 and specific possibilities of its applications are illustrated on practical examples. E-learning brings new challenges which can be implemented to support effectiveness of learning and education.

Mirka Greskova (2009)  How to design knowledge management tools?   In: 4th International Workshop on Knowledge Management, June 26, 2009, Tatranská Štrba, Slovensko Edited by:Jozef Kelemen; Jozef Hvorecky. Trencin: Vysoká škola manažmentu
Abstract: Paper is aimed at the description of research outcomes focused on information search interaction. Analyses of collected data lead to discovering of key aspects of information search behavior by the interaction with search agent, Copernic Agent Proffesional. This software application is advanced knowledge management technology that is why typology of KM tools together with recent trends in the area are characterized. Methods from which we believe also design and evaluation of other types of knowledge management tools could benefit are introduced. The key methods used in our research were think-aloud protocols, but also interviews and observations. Effective interaction of people with KM technologies can support effective KM processes in the organizational context.

Mirka Greskova (2009)  Usability Testing of the Information Search Agent: Interface Design Issues   In: Internet - Technical Development and Applications Series: Advances in Intelligent and Soft Computing Edited by:Ewaryst Tkacz; Adrian Kapczynski. 45-50 Springer
Abstract: Effectiveness of information technology use is one of the key issues influencing overall organization performance. Interface design of applications needs to support users in every day work activities. We propose a general methodology for testing the quality of software ap- plications interfaces. Methods were verified in the research aimed at the usability testing of the information search agent for advanced retrieval of internet information (Copernic Agent Professional). The main methods used in our research were think-aloud protocols, but also interviews and observations. Paper characterizes the key findings together with recommendations for application performance improvements.

Mirka Greskova (2008)  Kognitívne základy informačnej vedy: interakcia človeka s agentom na vyhľadávanie informácií / Cognitive foundations of information science: human interaction with information search agent   Univerzita Komenského Bratislava:
Abstract: Introduction. The thesis presents theoretical framework of cognitive paradigm of information science. It is focused on information behaviour, interactive approach and applications of cognitive aspects to information retrieval systems design. Trends in the area of search systems are analyzed. Empirical research aimed at interaction of human and information search agent is framed by these theoretical approaches. Methods. Research methodology is based on combination of qualitative approach blended together with quantitative approach. Research is aimed at finding answers to questions about human information behaviour by interacting with information search agent and perception of interaction with agent interface. Data were collected from interviews and think aloud sessions with five respondents. Analysis. Interviews and think-aloud transcripts were analyzed by means of conceptual and grounded theory analysis. Analyzed data were synthesized by coding, creation of tables and maps. Synthesized data were used for further generalization of results and modelling. Results. Resulting interpretations describe detailed characteristics of information behaviour aspects focused on cognitive and affective perspectives. Context is shaped by identification of demographic data and also by description of experiences, future plans and presently solved tasks. Conclusions.
