Nirmalya Ghosh (N. Ghosh) completed his M.Sc. in Physics from University of Kalyani, West Bengal, India. After completion of M.Sc., he joined the M. Tech. program of Laser Technology in IIT Kanpur, India and completed the degree in the year 1998. He then joined Laser Biomedical Applications & Instrumentation Division (LBAID), Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology (RRCAT), Indore, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), India as a scientist. At present he is conducting postdoctoral research at Department of Medical Biophysics, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada. The focus of his research has been to understand the scattered or re-emitted light from a turbid medium like biological tissue and to evaluate its use for biomedical imaging and diagnosis.

He has published about twenty five papers in journals and fifteen articles in edited volumes and book chapters in the area of biomedical optics, spectroscopy and biophotonics.

He has also been a referee for journals like, Optics Letters, Optics Communications and Optics Express.
