Full Professor of Romance Philology and Linguistics at the Sapienza, University of Rome. He obtained the PhD and the Postdoctoral position in Romance Philology at the same University. He was Research Associate in «Métrique et Linguistique» at the «Centre d’études métriques» of the University of Nantes and Visiting Professor at the University of Cluj and Santiago de Compostela. He took classes of «Tradizione e filologia del Medioevo volgare» at the «Scuola di specializzazione per conservatori di beni archivistici e librari della civiltà medievale» at the University of Cassino. He elaborated the electronic concordances of the trouvères and coordinates the research project for the multimedial edition of Arnaut Daniel. He is Editor in Chief of the electronic journal «Rivista di Filologia Cognitiva» (english version: «Cognitive Philology») and presiding Editor of the «Schedario romanzo» of the journal «Critica del testo». He worked with several houses (Einaudi, La Nuova Italia, Zanichelli) and wrote and cared radio programmes for RAI. He worked in analysis, synthesis and reviews of romance medieval literature (Italian, Provencal, French, Spanish, Portuguese), with particular emphasis on poetry and its metric structures. He also wrote essays on Arnaut Daniel, Alfonso X, Iacopone da Todi, Dante Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca. He is interested in relationship among latin and romance metrics and the reception of troubadour lyrics in the Middle Ages, in the Renaissance and in the contemporary. He published editions and comments (also in electronic sizes) and drew up databases, metric and rimic catalogues in electronic format. His works mainly concern: - metrics and melodic analysis - texts history and attributions - cultural history of ideas - theory of literary genres - intertextuality - etymology and linguistics - selfdefinitions of texts and methods of determination of Corpora - Kontrafakturen and intertextuality - semantics of metric and codicologyc structures - relationship between games and ecdotics - relationship between literary text and literary treatises - philology and cognitive sciences - philology and information theory.
