Peter Königshof is head of the Section "Historical Geology and Facies" at the Senckenberg Institute, Frankfurt.
Research activities concentrate on:
Microfacies and sedimentology, especially in Devonian reefal sediments; Palaeoecology of Devonian stromatoporoids.
Other topics are focused on very low grade to low grade metamorphism based ob conodont alteration index data (CAI) and endolithic organism (e.g. fungi, algae) in conodont elements in comparison to boring organisms in carbonates.
He is also involved in UNESCO and IGCP Programmes :
Since 2006: Chairrman of the German International Geoscience Programme (IGCP)
Since 2006: Elected member of the Science Advisory Board of the German Commission for UNESCO and member of the Scientific Board of the German Commision for UNESCO.
