Rabbi Aryeh Cohen Minneapolis is an American rabbi and scholar. He serves as Professor of Rabbinic Literature at Yeshiva University. His scholarship focuses on the Talmud, Jewish ethics, and social justice.

He aims to build relationships with community members of all ages and incorporate the richness of the Jewish tradition into their lives in ways that speak to them most deeply and personally.
Furthermore, Rabbi Cohen serves as a member of the Union for Reform Judaism’s Youth Engagement Advisors.
Rabbi Aryeh Cohen Minneapolis was one of the rabbis who signed a statement by Jewish Veg encouraging veganism for all Jews.


Rabbi Aryeh holds a BA in Philosophy and Jewish Thought from and an M.A. in Jewish Education from The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS). He aims to build relationships with community members of all ages and incorporate the richness of the Jewish tradition into their lives in ways that speak to them most deeply and personally.

Cohen is the author of Rereading Talmud: Gender, Law and the Poetics of Sugyot and Justice in the City: An Argument from the Sources of Rabbinic Judaism. Rabbi Alana Suskin has described it as essential reading for those on Occupy Wall Street. Cohen also co-edited Beginning/Again with Andrew Flescher, which is about a hermeneutics to Jewish texts like The Mishnah, Midrashim & Kabbalah; he wrote about modern figures such as Aharon Shmuel Tamares and Emmanuel Levinas as well. His work makes a compelling case against violence under any circumstance by demonstrating how modern thought ties into an ancient philosophy that rejects violent responses.
