Dr Ramon Colomer, MD, PhD, is Professor of Oncology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) and Head of the Division of Medical Oncology at the Hospital Universitario La Princesa, Madrid. He is also Visiting Investigator at the Clinical Research Program of the Spanish Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas (CNIO), Madrid.
He is Director of the SEOM Masters Program of Medical Oncology at the Universitat de Girona, and Director of the endowed Chair of Personalised Precision Medicine (UAM-Fundacion Instituto Roche).
Dr. Colomer trained in Medical Oncology at the Hospital Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona, and in basic laboratory research at the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, MD, and Georgetown University, Washington, DC. He worked at the Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid, and later was chief of Medical Oncology at the Catalan Institute of Oncology in Girona. He was Medical and Scientific Director at MD Anderson España, Madrid, and a Senior Consultant at the Catalan Institute of Oncology in Barcelona.
Dr Colomer was President of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM) in 2007-2009. He holds a Master’s degree in Hospital Management and Administration.
His clinical and laboratory research career translates in 270 peer-reviewed scientific papers, the bibliometric analysis of which shows a Science Citation Index H Factor of 49 and a cumulative Impact Factor of more than 1500. He has been Principal Investigator in 93 clinical trials and 46 basic and translational laboratory research projects. His major areas of research has been the development of biomarkers of human breast cancer and Precision Oncology.
