Scientific and research activity is documented by 0ver 400 scientific publications.
The experimental and clinical research concentrates on:
- enteral and parenteral nutrition in surgery,
- diagnosis and treatment of massive hemorrhage of the digestive system,
- surgical treatment of breast cancer,
- diagnosis and treatment of cancer of the small intestine,
- pathophysiology diagnosis and treatment of short bowel syndrome resulting from extensive intestinal resection,
- surgery of the large bowel with special reference to colorectal cancer and diverticular disease,
- treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease,
- diagnosis and treatment of lesions of the biliary tract and particularly endoscopic and surgical treatment of cholelithiasis,
- pathophysiology and treatment of acute pancreatitis,
- diagnosis and treatment of neuroendocrine tumors of the gastrointestinal tract,
- pathophysiology diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases.
CONFERENCE ACTIVITIES
The conference activities is documented by the participation in over 300 Conferences and / or Refresher Courses.
He has presented over 250 scientific reports or communications, also at International Conferences.

CLINICAL ACTIVITY AND MEDICAL CARE
Health care activity was focused on the diagnosis and treatment of common diseases of surgical interest.
Field of application is primarily that of a surgical treatment of gastrointestinal diseases: lesions of the biliary tract and particularly endoscopic and surgical treatment of cholelithiasis, diagnosis and treatment of acute pancreatitis, large bowel surgery in relation to colorectal cancer and diverticular disease, diagnosis and treatment of neuroendocrine tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases.
The health care activity was carried out with the rank of managing doctor (“duties of support, collaboration and shared responsibility with the recognition of specific areas of functional autonomy”). Functions as head of Unity of Surgical Semeiotic from 1990 to 2005.
Total number of medium and high surgical interventions performed: over 4500
