Roberto Natalini was born in Roma on July 4, 1960. He graduated in mathematics at the Università degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza" in 1983. He obtained a "D.E.A. en Mathématiques Appliquées", at the Université de Bordeaux I (1984) and the Ph.D in Mathematics in the same university (1986). From 1988 to 1998 he worked as researcher at the Istituto per le Applicazioni del Calcolo "M. Picone" of CNR. During the same years he thougt Mathematical Analysis at the Università di Roma "La Sapienza", Università dell'Aquila, Università di Roma 3. From Novembre 1998 to March 1999, he was Associated Professor of Mathematical Analysis at the Università di Roma "La Sapienza". From March 1999 to present he is "dirigente di ricerca" at the Istituto per le Applicazioni del Calcolo "M. Picone" of CNR.
From 2002 to 2005 he was the Head of the research unit "Complex Systems" at IAC-CNR.
He published 56 paper on international journals, working on nonlinear hyperbolic and parabolic partial differential equations. His research themes include: relaxation and fluid dynamical limits, numerical approximation of shock and diffusive waves, asymptotic numerical methods, filtration problems in porous media, mechanical and chemical damage in natural stones in historical monuments, traffic flows on networks, numerical approximation of problems in financial mathematics, mathematical models in biomathematics.
