Rose has been based at the Shoklo Malaria Research Unit (SMRU) at the Thai Myanmar border for more than 30 years. Rose graduated from the University of Sydney (MBBS), Australia, 1990, holds the post of Professor Tropical Maternal and Child Health Oxford University since 2014, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK since 2008. Her daily work and research has concentrated on the 1st 1,000 days of life with prospective longitudinal follow up from early pregnancy to the age of two years to fully understand the adverse consequences of malaria and antimalarials on this vulnerable stage of life. The SMRU MCH team has built a clinical- and bio-bank of more than 80,000 pregnant women registered to SMRU antenatal clinics. Incredible teamwork through the different SMRU departments, has had a significant impact on reducing maternal and neonatal mortality in this rural, remote and limited-resource settings. Mortality rates remain unacceptably high and the target for future work. Humanitarian work is supported by Borderland Health Foundation https://bhf-th.org/ established in 2017. Rose's Australian friends and family have been wonderfully supportive through the https://drrosemcgreadyfoundation.org.au/
