Dr. Mohammad Shameem Al Mamun was born in 1978 at Ghatail in the district of Tangail, Bangladesh. He obtained B.Sc.Ag. (Hons.) and M.S. in Entomology degree from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh. He joined the Bangladesh Tea Research Institute (BTRI) as a Scientific Officer (Entomology) in 2007. Later, he was awarded a P.G.D. in Tea Plantation Management with Grade A+ from Kothari Agricultural Management Center (KAMC), Tamil Nadu, India, in 2010. He achieved higher training in pollution-free tea production technology from Zhangzhou College of Science and Technology, Fujian, China, in 2016. He was awarded a PhD degree from the Department of Food Engineering and Tea Technology, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, in 2017. He has successfully completed a postdoctoral from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka. He was promoted to Senior Scientific Officer (Entomology) on 20 March 2013 and Principal Scientific Officer (Entomology) on 16 August 2022, respectively. Bio-ecology of pests, Crop loss assessment, Bioassay and resistance of pests, Screening of pesticides for tea, Integrated pest management in tea, Bio-pesticides & bio-control as IPM component, Screening tea clones for pest susceptibility, and Pesticide residue in tea are the fields of research work. He has 109 national and international publications related to integrated pest management, including two international books. He is also a resource person of the Management Training Center, Project Development Unit, Bangladesh Tea Board. He obtained diverse training on Basic Training on Computer Application, MS Office, Tea Culture, Agricultural Project Management, Pesticide Residue Analysis in Tea, and Research Methodology from home and abroad. Dr. Mamun attended many national & international seminars, symposiums, and conferences at home and abroad. He is also associated with different national and international professional organizations and societies, such as Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh; Bangladesh Entomological Society; Weed Science Society of Bangladesh; Bangladesh Botanical Society; Zoological Society of Bangladesh; Entomological Society of America; Tea Professional Welfare Society, Bangladesh; The Acarological Society of Iran; Bangladesh Association for the Advancement of Science.
