Smita completed her Post Doctorate from the University of Waterloo where her research focused on the development of predictive models based on Machine Learning Algorithms exploring how to predict immediate and long-term Cancer incidence and mortality. She obtained her Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science at Jamia Millia Islamia University in 2010. Her Ph.D. work covers the intelligent searching techniques to answer queries in RDBMS using Artificial Intelligence.
She is a researcher who maintains a strong academic presence at major International Journals and Conferences. Her work spans a number of different areas in computer science, including operating systems, file and storage systems, high-performance computing systems, machine learning, and database management systems.
Her current focus is at the leading edge of deep learning and machine learning in a diverse set of areas, including neural networks, probabilistic models, statistical theory, computational biology, computer vision, and natural language processing.
