I am interested in biodiversity patterns (character, distribution, relationship) and their evolutionary and ecological causes.

Key words: biodiversity pattern; biogeography; entomology; evolutionary biology; fauna evolution; molecular phylogenetics; Tibetan Plateau; Himalayas.

Current focuses:
1) biogeographical patterns and evolution of fauna in the Tibetan Plateau and the Himalayas (QTPH);
2) biogeography and speciation of Mindarinae (Insecta, Aphididae) with continentally and regionally disjunct distributions;
3) molecular phylogeny of higher aphid groups with K/T radiation and evolution of key biological features;
4) higher-level phylogenetic relationships between aphids and their primary endosymbionts, Buchnera.

I personally am also interested in some matters of general interest, such as how to promote the collection and sharing of biodiversity data. We have proposed that implementation of a joint data archiving policy by journals and databases would be a win-win strategy for both sides and a sustainable (quantity and quality) methodology for biodiversity data sharing and archiving. The suggestions have been published in TREE.
